The African Political Mission
...... Then & Now
Inarguably, the people of Africa constitutes a global socio-geopolitical group. Being a political group, the African People must have
appropriate political mission at all times. Africa is a global geopolitical entity because the destiny of the African People are the same.
Despite geographic location and superficial minor social differences, the ultimate future of Africa (whether perpetual poverty or perpetual
prosperity) will be the same. Ultimately, Africans perish or prosper together. In addition, the international relationship between Africa and
the world, which is a relationship of subordination, is the same irrespective of the ethnic or religious affiliation of the African. Also, the
objectives of global systems vis-vis Africa is the same, whether the objective is achieved through slavery, colonialism, neocolonialism or
globalism. Indisputably, the objective of all global systems - past, present, and future is political and economic subjugation of Africa. For
these reasons Africans, as a global political group, must have at all times, a solid and unambiguous political mission in order to gather the
strength to withstand, repel and defeat inimical global systems. Accordingly, the African People, the African Political Leadership, the
African Government, the African Political Group and the African Social Group, all with no exception, must subscribe to the underpinning
ideology of the African Political Mission at any period in time in order for Africa to avoid foreign domination and in order for Africa to
achieve an eminent global status, politically and economically. Therefore, Africa as a global geopolitical entity must clearly and succinctly
define the African Political Mission so that the inherent ideology can permeate the political and the social fabric of the African nation.
Massive embrace of the ideology is required of the African populace to enable the underlying aim of the African Political Mission to be
achievable. The aim of the African Political Mission, then and now, is Human Dignity, Peace and Prosperity for all Africans everywhere.
Below describes the African Political Mission, then and now.
The African Political Mission, Then ..... Liberation & Unification
Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana, aptly defined the African Political Mission for the period 1940 to 1990. The African Political Mission then was Liberation & Unification. Without African Liberation, there can be no African Unification and without African Unification, there can be no free and prosperous Africa. Liberation as a political mission was necessary to terminate foreign subjugation of the continent in order to give the Land of Africa back to Africans. Unification as a political mission was necessary to garner the maximum political and economic strength to protect the human dignity of the African, to protect the Land of Africa for the benefit of Africans and to acquire global strength capable of defeating all global systems unfavourable to Africa. Therefore, the African Political Mission then, appropriately defined by Dr. Kwame Nkrummah, was African Liberation immediately followed by African Unification. Liberation was successful, but Unification was not. As a result, Africa could not achieve the aim of the Africa Political Mission. As contemporary African history has vividly revealed, the consequences of the failure to achieve the aim of the African Political Mission has been instability, wars, poverty, and diseases that are ravaging the Land of Africa.
Unification was unsuccessful because of the Cold War. The Cold War, which was characterised by the desire of foreign power blocks for global hegemony, cultivated antagonism amongst African Leaders. While there was unanimity in the imperative of African Liberation as a political mission by all Africans there was no unanimity in African Unification. Some African Leaders, Governments, Ethnic Groups and Political Parties did not subscribe to African Unification as a political mission. Inarguably, the Cold War divided Africa on foreign ideological lines and as a result neocolonialism became a potent instrument of global hegemony. The Cold War compelled foreign ideological alignment on Africans Leaders thus enabling neocolonialism to neutralize the fervour that led to the success of African Liberation from continuing on to African Unification. In fact, the Cold War, through the political instrument of neocolonialism, threatened to derail and even reverse the match to the total liberation of Africa from colonialism. For this reason, democracy in post independent Africa during that period could not survive under the political pressures of liberation and unification since it could have been used to reverse the gains of African Liberation.
In defense of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, democracy could not be a critical political mission at that time as it was a threat to the most critical political mission of the time - African Liberation & African Unification. Democracy could not be a political mission then especially because some powerful "democratic" nations of the world embraced colonialism, neocolonialism and even apartheid and were prepared to use democracy to subvert Africa. Therefore, it is my candid belief that without the Cold War, Neocolonialism and Apartherid, the African Political Mission then would have been Liberation, Unification & Democracy.

The African Political Mission, Now
..... Unification & Democracy
The Cold War is over. African Liberation has successfully come to an end. Apartheid has been defeated. But African Unification
has not materialized. Consequently, a redefinition and a rejuvenation of Dr Kwame Nkrummah's vision of Africa is absolutely
necessary. The urgency of resuscitation of the vision, given the sad African political realities of today, requires Africa to redefine
today's mission in order to continue to the next phase of the African Political Mission. The critical political mission now is
Unification & Democracy. Without African Unification today, there can be no African Democracy. But democracy is imperative
to the attainment of the underlying aim of the African Political Mission, which is Human Dignity, Peace and Prosperity for all
Africans everywhere.
The Proposed Model
A Unification & Democracy model suitable to the socio-geopolitical diversity of Africa is essential to achieving the aims of the
African Political Mission. Accordingly, UAO proposes the democratic federation of Modern Africa and Traditional Africa as the
Unification & Democracy model appropriate for Africa. The proposed model is appropriate for Africa as it enables meaningful
power-sharing amongst the Social Groups of Africa.
African Unification is as pertinent now as it was then and it is probably the most critical of the African Political Mission. African
Unification solidifies the gains of African Liberation and makes the independence of African States meaningful and
irreversible. African Unification, as proposed, provides the people of Africa maximum political and economic strength to
enable Africa to protect the gains of African Liberation and to defeat inimical global systems orchestrated to subjugate Africa,
politically and economically. Without African Unification, the re-emergence of colonialism in Africa can never be ruled out as
wars, poverty and diseases will continue to weaken Africa and eventually provide grounds for dictatorial and imperialistic
foreign nations to recolonize Africa. Indisputably, a weakened and internationally problematic Africa is susceptible to
recolonization. Under inhospitable political and economic conditions such as wars, poverty or colonialism, it is impossible to
cultivate democracy and nourished it to thrive in Africa. African Unification, therefore, provides maximum political and
economic strength, not only to enable Africa attain the status of a respected and powerful global socio-political group, but
more importantly, to enable democracy to thrive on the Land of Africa.
African Democracy, as proposed, is an imperative political mission today since it enables equitable distribution of the political
power and the economic wealth of Africa amongst the Social Groups of Africa. Equitable distribution of power and wealth
enables Africa to prevent wars and instability and to create a solid foundation for rapid economic development. African
Democracy, therefore, provides maximum peace and stability, the essential requirements for a sustainable prosperity. Without
democracy, peace and prosperity cannot be achieved in Africa since without a meaningful sharing of the political power and
economic wealth of Africa amongst Africa's Social Groups, war, poverty and diseases will continue to decimate the Land of
Africa and prevent Africa from achieving the aims of the African Political Mission, which is human dignity, peace and prosperity
in all Africa.
Indubitably, Unification & Democracy define the African Political Mission today since they are critical to the success of all
Africans everywhere. UAO, therefore, appeals to the African People, to the African Political Leadership, to the African
Government, to the African Political Group and to the African Social Group - to all with no exception to ignore minor differences
and embrace today's African Political Mission, which is :
